Yes, I know that, but that still processes all daemons listed in the
file.  Larry's comment was:

		Why do we have 3 pmtab files, a pmtab.init, pmtab.all
and pmtab? I understand pm has the ability to start a limited number of
daemons through the use of arguments. Why are we mucking about with
these extra pmtabs?

This implied to me that some parameter to pm would allow it to start
some, but not all, of the daemons in the pm config file.  As I said,
this is not the case.

You can specify your own version of pmtab file using pm -c option.

pm [-c cfg_file]
